Remix: Love letter 565/34, Extreme Beauty - Yael Kanarek

Yael Kanarek has had a long-lasting interest in storytelling on the Internet. Her net art works use the early literary genre of the traveler's tale to study the space of language on the Internet.

The third chapter of the Traveler's Journal, Object of Desire (link), was inspired by the observation the language defines border and space on the Internet. Object of Desire is spread out: Fifteen diary entries appear in three languages, English, Hebrew and Arabic, and download from servers in Ramallah, Tel Aviv, Izmir and New York.

Yael approached Add-Art as a medium to contain a story and opportunity to cross narratives. She chose the diary entry Extreme Beauty from Object of Desire. Extreme Beauty is a short love letter written in 1996 that appeared in many World of Awe (link) works and in different media from painting to jewelry. In Object of Desire the love letter is placed as edifices in a red landscape and the viewer follows a trail of language. In Add-Art, 136 ad banners are windows into the storyspace of Sunset/Sunrise.

Love letter 565/34: Extreme Beauty
Sunset/Sunrise

I found the key to extreme beauty, but not the keyhole.
I tried it in all the holes of my body but none seemed to fit.

Yours forever
Your sunset/sunrise forever yours
Yours forever yours
